Our
Story
Oxsen Learning started with something Laura kept noticing as a Professional Engineer.

Technical teams were struggling, and it wasn't a lack of talent. It was a lack of consistent training.
​
New engineers understand the theory. But a design on paper isn't a design that gets built, and no one in school teaches the difference. That part gets learned on the job, if anyone has the time to teach it.
​
The team hires for relief, but a new hire starts by adding work to the busiest people. They can't take on real projects until they're prepared, and the engineers who could prepare them have the least time. With no consistent way to get someone up to speed, it happens in the gaps between deadlines, and some start to wonder if it's easier to just do it themselves.
Oxsen Learning was built for that moment. Practical, self-paced training gives new engineers solid footing from day one, so they can contribute sooner. Senior engineers get their time back for the work only they can do, and better designs go out the door.

To provide accessible, practical training built from lived experience. We help teams gain the knowledge and tools they need to build real skills, grow in confidence, and put what they learn to work on real projects.
Our Vision
To make the complex feel manageable. Civil engineering is broad, and no one should have to learn it in the gaps between deadlines. We believe that when knowledge is easier to share, every team can build on a solid foundation and do their best work.
Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Laura Oxsen.

I am a dual-licensed Professional Engineer and a Certified Learning & Development Specialist.
​
While you do not often see those titles together, for me, it was a natural progression. I chose to focus on where my passion and skills overlapped rather than limiting myself to a typical path.
​
Throughout my time as a Civil Engineer, I discovered that I was most passionate about setting others up for success. I loved the human connection of mentoring and training. But I was equally drawn to the technical systems. I loved creating templates and processes to make things easier for the next person.
​
My journey in engineering taught me to see the world through a structured and analytical lens. It wasn’t until later in life that I began exploring my creative side, and I realized that the most impactful solutions come from blending structured thinking and creativity.​
​I founded Oxsen Learning to bring those two worlds together. I understand
the technical precision required for design, and I understand the psychology behind how people learn. I use that perspective to build real-world tools that focus not just on the process, but on the person using it.

Engineering rarely makes room for how people experience learning, and everyone learns differently. My training is built around the learner, not just the information, so it's engaging and focused on what you actually need to know.
​
My goal is to close the distance between learning a concept and applying it on a real project, so engineers walk away with the skills and the confidence to deliver.
