Why I Built Oxsen Learning: Training for the Whole Person

I realized what I was looking for didn't exist. So I decided to create it.

Throughout my career, I’ve noticed a gap in how we learn. So much of the training out there is over-complicated, designed to make the subject feel complex rather than making the learner feel capable. I’ve always believed that the most effective teachers are the ones who teach the basics well. It’s that light bulb moment, when a person truly understands a new concept for the first time, where I believe true confidence is built.

Over my 10 plus years in the engineering industry, I realized that while I love the technical side of design, it didn't fully satisfy my passion for supporting the humans behind the work and the foundational systems that help them succeed. We live in a world where we are expected to be experts in everything, from navigating a first job to caring for aging family members. It’s a lot to figure out, and you shouldn’t have to do it alone.

This is why I built Oxsen Learning. I wanted to provide support for those navigating the demands of life, both personally and professionally. I want to help spark those moments of understanding that build true confidence.

Training for the Whole Person

What I’m building is a library of online, on-demand training built around the person, not just the subject. I focus on fundamental concepts and provide a practical way to apply them to your daily life and work. By combining text, audio, and video instruction with hands-on exercises, I want to meet different learning styles so the basics can finally click.

We can’t separate the person from the professional. Oxsen Learning is built for the whole person, providing both professional training and personal life skills. The way we learn is the same, so why shouldn’t our training be, too?

Foundational offerings now live:

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D Basics: Bridge the gap between simple drafting and high level infrastructure modeling.

  • Budgeting Essentials: Master the fundamental language of finance and build your own intentional budget plan.

If this vision resonates with you, please share this blog post! I’m looking forward to building a community of learners where we can all feel a little more capable and confident.

P.S. I want to give a huge shout-out to the team at Grayling Engineers. I’m very thankful for a team that has supported me in pursuing this dream, and I’m excited for everything we’ll continue to build together as I continue my work as their Organizational Development Lead.
