What It Actually Looks Like to Invest in Your Team's Training

Invest in the right training early, and it pays back in several ways: faster readiness, real contributions sooner, and people who feel invested from the start.
I've had the unique opportunity to build Oxsen Learning while also contributing to the foundational development of a company that shares the same values. One of my favorite parts of my role at Grayling Engineers is listening to our engineers and supporting their growth. From those conversations, I've been able to build trainings, tools, and systems that address real needs, for the individual and for the company.
The AutoCAD Civil 3D Basics course was one of the first things I built. It addresses one of the most consistent gaps I've seen across the industry: the transition from school experience to real project work. Being able to watch our team feel ready and supported through that training has been one of the most rewarding parts of this work.
Working inside Grayling has shown me that this kind of investment isn't a one-time decision. It's a reflection of how they think about their people at every level.
